The National Restaurateurs’ Dinner (NRD) is one of the UK hospitality sector’s premier annual fundraising events.
The dinner is a joint initiative by three of the industry’s most prominent and respected organisations: The Academy of Food and Wine Service; The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts; and The Restaurant Association. Click here for details of the organisations. Each year we combine efforts to organise the NRD and to make it a memorable annual celebration.
This year, its 28th, the dinner will be held on 28th April at The Dorchester. Last year’s event, held at The Savoy was a total sell-out and we raised over £45,000 on the night from the auction and raffle ticket sales. This year, with your help and generosity, we can do better!
These vital funds help maintain the profile and esteem of the industry, both front and back of house, through training and educational programmes. Besides its fundraising, the evening also provides an opportunity for the industry to come together and enjoy the company of old, and new friends.

In its Silver Jubilee year the NRD announced a new patrons’ scheme, whereby several high profile members of the industry were invited to become patrons of the National Restaurateurs’ Dinner.
Our first patrons include Roy Ackerman, Sir Rocco Forte, Julia Hands, Mike Sunley, Ramon Pajares and Richard Shepherd, and the committee would like to invite you to join this esteemed group.
Our aim is to secure a further 4/5 patrons each year, so that we can welcome and honour them at this most highly regarded event.
The commemorative brochure of the event will carry photos and biographies of all our patrons, as will this website and we are planning an opportunity to meet and mingle with the other patrons during the event’s champagne reception.
We are asking our patrons to donate a suggested £1,000 to take up the role for one year and this will be spread across all three associations. This donation will help the associations continue the important work in delivering education and training programmes both front and back of house. Should patrons wish to take lifetime patronage we would be delighted to accept a donation of £5,000.
Patrons will receive a certificate of patronage and will have a specially designed logo to use on their business letterheads and emails to demonstrate their support. We will also be publicising the scheme and its patrons in a series of press releases to the media and on this website.
